Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop

When I’m in the South Bay, one place I love to eat is the Coffee Shop at Gardena Bowl. If you haven’t been, it’s a hole in the wall spot serving up Hawaiian/Asian comfort food by friendly people. It’s been around for a while, I remember my parents saying they used to go there all the time as young adults.

My go to dish is the Hawaiian Royale which is a big plate of Portuguese sausage, chashu, and eggs with rice. I always end up eating the whole thing and instantly slip into a food coma shortly after. I go into Gardena Bowl with the intentions of saving half of my food for later, but I can’t resist killing my whole meal. The Loco Moco and kimchee fried rice are always solid choices as well.

The Loco Moco: white rice, topped with a hamburger patty, a fried egg, and brown gravy.

I wish I could replicate them at home, but one could only dream. There is also plenty of parking which is an added bonus. Make sure to add Gardena Bowl to your "must try" spots in Torrance. Come hungry because the portions are huge!
